Meet the Staff at DRC!

Everyone meet Karrie! She is a Reading and Spelling Tutor. Karrie has been at DRC for 7 years. Before joining the DRC team, she was inside sales in the paper industry. She is married with 4 kids, a dog, and a cat. She homeschooled her kids for 12 years. Karrie enjoys quilting in her free time.

Why do you tutor?

“Because I understand how dyslexia, without intervention, affects a household and a lifetime.”

What keeps you at DRC?

“I have learned to be a confident tutor without having to attend graduate school to be personally certified. I am certified through DRC. I am changing the trajectory of the children’s lives forever.”

How does tutoring make you feel?

“It is one of the most rewarding, challenging, gut-wrenching, and exhilarating positions I have ever been a part of.”

Can you highlight an experience at DRC that brought you reward (i.e., graduate, an ‘ah-ha’ moment, a compliment from a student or parent)?

“The scope, breadth, speed, and trajectory of the vocabulary used in the Susan Barton Program. It is brilliantly laid out!”
