Meet the Staff at DRC!

Everyone meet Jeri! She is a Reading and Spelling Tutor. Jeri has been at DRC for 13 years. Before joining the DRC team, she was a special education teacher for 10 years and a reading teacher for 7+ years. She has a 3-year-old shih tzu. Jeri’s hobbies include painting, decorating, cross-stitching, reading, and walking.

Why do you tutor?

“I tutor because teaching a child to read is one of the best ways to give them a successful start in life and help them become whatever they want to accomplish in life and whatever career path they choose.”

What keeps you at DRC?

“I really enjoy my co-tutors. The families are so supportive and grateful. I love working with students of all ages. I believe that the Barton Program is the best program out there in teaching literary.”

How does tutoring make you feel?

“It makes me feel that I am helping my students to be successful and equipping them for what they’ll need to be successful in the career they choose.”

Can you highlight an experience at DRC that brought you a reward (i.e., graduate, an ‘ah-ha’ moment, a compliment from a student or parent)?

“A parent of a past graduade called me to let me know that their child made the honor roll and that I was instrumental in their child’s success.”
