Meet the Staff at DRC!

Everyone meet Pam! She is a Reading and Spelling Tutor. Pam has been at DRC for over one year. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. “As many of us know, life’s path often leads us in another direction.” Prior to working at DRC, she was a stay-at-home mom, and she worked in the insurance industry. Pam has two kids and a 14-year-old Welsh Terrier named Charlie. Her hobbies include reading, biking, and walking.

Why do you tutor?

“Reading to or with children has always been very important to me. Reading builds confidence, expands a child’s vocabulary, and develops the imagination.”

What keeps you at DRC?

“Most importantly, my students, but also knowing there is a very real need for some children to receive additional support in reading and writing.”

How does tutoring make you feel?

“Thankful that I have the opportunity to teach reading skills to help students become confident readers.”

Can you highlight an experience at DRC that brought you a reward (i.e., graduate, an ‘ah-ha’ moment, a compliment from a student or parent)?

“Just seeing students leave with a smile on their face is rewarding – especially when they arrive with a look that says, ‘I’d rather not be here today!”
