Local High School Graduate Gives Back!

Mason Murray, a recent graduate of Appleton North High School just completed a summer internship with First English Lutheran Church. Mason was given the opportunity to select a nonprofit organization in the community to highlight and he chose Dyslexia Reading Connection. Why? Mason is a graduate of the Barton Reading & Spelling System offered at Dyslexia Reading Connection. Mason received tutoring for several years to help him overcome his reading and spelling challenges. When Mason began tutoring, he was reading more than two years behind grade level and by the time he graduated from the program at the end of 7th grade he was ready for high school level reading.

Mason selected Dyslexia Reading Connection because the organization not only helped him improve his reading skills but, more importantly, it gave him confidence. Mason just completed his summer internship, and he is looking forward to the next chapter in his life. He now has doors open to him he wouldn’t have anticipated without the reading support he received at DRC.
